Maureen Margaret Rowley
June 17, 1973 – May 9, 2018
Maureen Margaret Rowley passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 9, at the age of 44. Maureen was a lifelong resident of Macon. She graduated from The Vanguard School in Lake Wales, Fla., in 1991 and entered the Threshold Program at Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass. After graduating from Threshold in 1993, she returned to Macon where she worked as a volunteer for different nonprofit organizations, including several years with The Mentors Project.
Maureen was a warm and generous soul who delighted in being the family’s “social secretary” — keeping in touch with far-flung relatives across the country and passing along the latest family news. She had a phenomenal memory, and the family learned early on never to challenge her recall. She adored her two nephews and found much joy in their accomplishments and amusement in their antics. She was an avid reader and an enthusiastic researcher into the family’s genealogical history, and she loved to travel — especially if it involved a beach trip.
Maureen was predeceased by her parents, Charles McBride and Carol Kuhn Rowley. She is survived by her sisters Karen Rowley of Baton Rouge, La., and Sheila Rowley of Houston, Texas; her brothers Kevin (Tammy), Brian and Brendan (Amy) Rowley, and her nephews Tyner and Jackson Rowley, all of Macon.
A prayer service will be held on Monday, May 14 at 11 a.m. at Snow’s, Cherry Street with Fr. Scott Winchel officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Private burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Main Gate. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Joseph School, 905 High Street, 31201 or an organization of the donor’s choice.
Visit www.snowsmemorialchapel.com to express condolences. Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street, has charge of arrangements.
