Melza Bernell Betts, 92, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday in Riverside Cemetery entering through the North Gate. Pastor Bo Turner will officiate. The family will greet friends from 3 until 5 PM Sunday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street and asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
Mrs. Betts was born in Ariton, AL the daughter of the late Thelma Paulk Patterson and J. W. Patterson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Dupree Betts. Mrs. Betts was a member of Ocmulgee East Boulevard Baptist Church, known by some as Lanier Heights and was retired from Brown & Williamson as a security guard.
Mrs. Betts is survived by her son, Stanley Betts (Brenda) of Macon; daughters, Melza Benton (Joe) of Macon and Celia Hodges (Charles) of Macon; 6 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.
