It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Michael “Mike” Paul Laplante, at his home in Macon, Georgia on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at the age of 64. Mike was born in Ottawa Ontario, Canada on December 3, 1958, the son of the late Julia Dorothy Laplante (VanMaele) and Paul Joseph Laplante. Beloved husband and best friend of 42 years to Sherry Laplante (Wilson). Loving father to his daughter Krista Laplante and his son Michael Laplante, both of Macon, Georgia.
Mike will be dearly missed by his sister Janet Laplante. Lovingly remembered and dear brother-in-law to Suzanne Wilson, Louise Wilson, Bruce and Shirley Wilson, Dianne Baxter, Sylvia Wilson, Steve and Shirley Wilson, Esther and George Sinnesael, all of Ontario, Canada. Cherished nephew to Margaret VanLaeken. Loved by many nieces and nephews, cousins and close friends. He was predeceased by his in-laws Quinton and Dorothy Wilson, brother-in-laws David Wilson, Lee Wilson and Ross Wilson.
Mike began his career in 1981, as a Snap-on-Tool dealer in Woodstock, Ontario Canada. He later worked for Superior Propane as a Manager of Auto Propane Services. In 1996, he joined Impco Technologies located in Cerritos, California as Director of Sales, where he re-located with his family to California in 2002. In 2006, Mike accepted a position as VP of Marketing and Sales with EControls located in San Antonio, Texas. In 2010, he started his own consulting company Laplante Enterprises, and in recent years was the Chief Operations Officer of 2Fuel Technologies, Inc. Mike was extremely well known and respected in the Alternative Fuels and Fuel Systems Industry, and had developed many close relationships with his business partners and associates throughout the years.
He grew up in Ontario, Canada, playing hockey, and was a faithful Montreal Canadians fan. Mike enjoyed travel, history, landscaping, but mostly spending time with his family and friends.
In keeping with Mike’s wishes, cremation will take place, followed by a Catholic Mass ceremony to be held at 1:00pm on Friday, June 30th at St.Joseph Catholic Church, 830 Poplar Street, Macon, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 830 Poplar Street, Macon, GA 31201.
In addition to the service, a Celebration of Life event will be held at a later date, and will be announced.
