ATHENS, GA-Mike Mayo, 70, of Athens, GA, passed away on January 15, 2019, after an extended illness.

He was born August 24, 1948, in Macon, GA, to Donald H. and Lenora Mayo. He was a 1966 graduate of Lanier High School.

He is survived by his daughters, Christy Sokoloff and Michelle Harris and four grandchildren; Jessica, Samantha and Max Sokoloff, and Bella Harris. He is also survived by his mother, Lenora Mayo and his sister, Elaine Jenkins, and brother-in-law, Thomas Jenkins. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald H. Mayo, and his brother, Benny Mayo. Other survivors include several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Mike was a life-long US Postal carrier who began his career in Macon, GA, and retired from the US Post Office in Sunrise, FL. He was a devoted son and a cherished brother, father, and grandfather. Mike was an avid golfer, he spent his retirement on the golf course and enjoyed watching his beloved Georgia Bulldogs.

A memorial will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 1 PM at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, 746 Cherry Street, Macon, GA, with a family visitation to follow from 2-4 PM at The Rookery, 543 Cherry Street, Macon, GA.
