Mildred Hillman Sanders

Macon, GA- Mildred Hillman Sanders, 91, passed away Friday, October 19, 2012. Funeral services will be held graveside at 2 p.m., Monday at Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Jody Long officiating. Visitation will be held at the home of Anne and Randy Sanders, 3726 Overlook Avenue from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Christ, 511 High Place, Macon, Georgia 31201 or to the Macon Symphony Orchestra, 400 Poplar Street, Macon, Georgia 31201.

Mrs. Sanders was the wife of the late Albert H. Sanders, Jr., former General Manager of WMAZ Radio and Television. Born in Macon, she was the daughter of the late Myrtle Williams Hillman and Robert Hand Hillman. She was a graduate of Mercer University with an AB degree in English and was one of the founding members of the sorority which became the Psi Gamma Chapter of Chi Omega.

As a member of First Baptist Church of Christ, she was a member of the church choir for over twenty years. She was also a former member of the Keenagers, XYZ Club of Vineville Baptist Church, the Morning Music Club, the President's Club of Mercer University, the Northwoods Garden Club, the Macon Civic Chorale, Macon Symphony Guild and the Idle Hour Golf and Country Club.

For more than fifty years she had sung in the church choir, and had played in a church handbell choir for ten years. She also sang in many weddings and at many different organizations of the church. Mrs. Sanders served on numerous charity fund drives.

Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her grandson, Everett Bryant Sanders, two sisters, Marjorie Hillman Yeomans and Edith Hillman Gerhardt.

Among the survivors are one son, Randall Hillman Sanders, daughter-in-law, Anne Bryant Sanders and three grandchildren, Thomas Hillman Sanders, Alexander Davis Sanders and wife, Ware, and Anna Sanders Greer and husband, George Smith Greer and two great grandchildren, Thomas Herrington Sanders and Katherine Walker Greer.
