I knew Monroe from my many years of working with the Bibb County Engineering Department. We had many interesting conversations when he visited our office or when he called. He was always kind but I remember him as being persistent in his development business dealings with the County. I met his beautiful wife, Marie, several times through the years going out to lunch or dinner, even once at The Bulloch House in Warm Springs. Also would see them at different events at the Grand Opera House. He was a kind, funny and thoughtful man who I will always fondly remember.

We have so many fond memories of Monroe during the10 years that we lived in Macon. One memory I would like to share is when our son tragically died. We were in shock and unaware that our air conditioner had stopped working as our house became quite warm/hot. We found out the next day that Marie call Monroe and he came to check it. He immediately called his air conditioner guy and got it repaired without our knowledge. We tried to pay him later but no he would not let us. He was a kind generous man.

Mr. Hill was a generous, kind, compassionate, caring, gentle soul. He truly loved his family, and spoke of them on every occasion that we saw each other. To me, he was the true definition of a southern gentleman. I am a better person for having known him. We will continue to keep his family in our prayers.
