

Nola Mae Pursiful, 81, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 11 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Christ with Rev. Scott Dickison and Rev. Larry Pursiful officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church from 1:00 – 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mercer University Youth Choir, Attn: Dr. Richard Kosowski, Townsend School of Music, 1501 Mercer University Drive, Macon, 31207.
Nola was born in Knox County, Tennessee to the late Cansada Brown and Jasper Jeffers, Jr. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Leeman, Carl, Emer, and James; and sister, Opal Daniel. Nola earned her Masters Degree from the University of Kentucky.
Nola was a member of First Baptist Church of Christ and the Adult 3 Sunday School Class. She was an organist and pianist. Nola loved hosting parties at her home and was known for her peach cobbler.
Nola taught for 30 years in the Highland Park School District in Highland Park, Michigan. She was coach of the High School Parlimentarian Team, which won 17 state championships and 7 national championships. She was past President of the National Association of Parliamentarians.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 60 years, Darrell Pursiful; son, Darrell (Connie) Pursiful; granddaughter, Rebecca Pursiful; brother, Roy Jeffers of Barbourville, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
