Patricia "Patsy" Barry Hopkins, age 89, of Macon, Georgia passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022. Patsy was born October 14, 1932 the daughter of the late Texas Roughton Barry and Arthur Patrick Barry and was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Hopkins, Jr., her brother, Arthur "Buster" Barry, Jr. and daughter, Ann Grady.
Patsy was a graduate of Miller High in Macon then attended Randolph-Macon College and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While in Savannah, she was a member of St John’s Episcopal Church. She enjoyed being a realtor at David Byck Realty and serving on the Board of Bethesda Academy as well as the Savannah Trees Foundation. In Addition, she was a former member of the Trustees Garden Club in Savannah. In Macon, Patsy attended Vineville United Methodist Church, was a member of the Town and Country Garden Club and a former member of Idle Hour Country Club. She dearly loved her family, friends, poetry, music, and gardening.
Patsy is survived by her children, Stuart Evans of Macon, Barry Evans (Kimberlee) of Amelia Island, FL, and Trisha Newitt (Scott) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; William “Bill” Hopkins III, and Lloyd Hopkins, both of Savannah; Grandchildren, Molly Evans, Kate Evans, John Evans, Drew Newitt, Patsy Newitt, and Peter Newitt; Ryan Grady, Taylor Kramer(Trevor), and Catherine Lanier (David); sister-in-law, Carolyn Barry; niece, Texas Cates (Pete), and nephew, Art Barry, III (Jan).
A Celebration of her Life will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Bass Road with visitation beginning at 10:15 AM. Rev. John Irwin will officiate. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Wesley Glen Ministries, 4580 N. Mumford Road, Macon 31210.
