Rachel Hardy Johnson

Rachel Hardy Johnson, age 78, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2010. Funeral services will be held at Porterfield Baptist Church on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Bill Adams and Rev. Rob Kessler officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted but those who wish may make memorial contributions to Porterfield Baptist Church, 2910 Allen Rd., Macon, GA 31216.

Mrs. Johnson was born in 1931 to the late James Richard Hardy and Nettie Waldron Hardy. She was a charter member of Porterfield Baptist Church, a member of the Faith Sunday School class and also a former choir member. Mrs. Johnson was a former 4-H State President and worked as an executive secretary for Armstrong World Industries for 49 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Johnson.

Survivors include her two sisters, Jeyneil Deese and Frances Inzer, both of Macon; two step-daughters, Cyri Johnson and Emily Rouse, both of Macon; several nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
