

RICHARD WALTON “DICK” JONES MACON – Richard Walton Jones, 68, died Sunday, October 11, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Hassell will officiate. Serving as Pallbearers will be Frank Harris, Chris Jones, Tom “Boot” Hunt, Malcom “Mac” Walton, Jerry Howard and Marc Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be Roger Stembridge, Dr. Jerome Bloodworth, Jim Chatham, Max Crook, Derrell Davis, John Fowler, Donnie Giles, Joe Kovac, Jerry Langston, Larry May, Lamar Peavy, Wofford Sinyard, Derry Watson and members of Dick’s 1959 Class of Perry High School. The family will meet friends from 1 p.m. to service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Dick was born in Haynesville, GA the son of the late Richard Walton Jones, Sr. and Daisy Belle Smith Jones. He grew up in Perry where he graduated from Perry High School in 1959 and was a graduate of Georgia State University. Mr. Jones entered the U. S. Navy in 1961 and upon return, went back to work at Robins Air Force Base as a Computer Analyst. He retired in 1997 with thirty-seven years service and awards for outstanding civilian career service and meritorious civilian service to his home in Macon where he lived with his wife, Betty Ellis Hibbs Jones. Survivors include his wife, Betty; his sons, Christopher Rex Jones (Yen Kuang), Jason Richard Jones (Kathy); his daughter, Jennifer Leigh Reynolds (Roger); brothers, W. Kenneth Jones (Frankie) of San Diego, Felix E. Jones (Diana) of Warner Robins; stepson, Ray Hibbs III; stepdaughter, Dana E. Suggs; grandchildren, Ashley Reynolds, Vance Jones, Zachary Jones, Tabitha, Teo and Cameron Lewis, Nicole and Will Suggs, Liz, Stephen, Mike and Sam Hibbs and many friends who will miss him greatly.
