Bob Bowden, age 82, went to be with the Lord Tuesday following a lengthy illness. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 14, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 5399 Hartley Bridge Road, Macon at 2 PM. Visitation will follow in the fellowship hall. Dr. Charles Michael Blizzard will officiate.
Bob, also known as Parks, was born in Banning, Georgia but lived most of his life in Macon. A butcher by trade, he also was a veteran of the United States Navy, and a former member of Second Baptist Church in Macon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Marie Chafin.
He is survived by his siblings: James (Doris) Bowden of Warner Robins, Gaye (Chuck) Hattaway, and David (Betty) Gales of Macon. He is also survived by the love of his life, Bertie Allen & children Kathy (Bob) Alspaugh and their daughter, Beth of Winston-Salem, NC; Karin Bush and her son Jason; Kay (Paul) Bellinger; and Bruce Keen; his favorite aunt, Ruby Johnson; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
