Roe Allen Roberts, 94, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Snow’s Bass Road. The family will greet friends from Noon to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Joe McDaniel officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northway Church, Building Fund, Faith for the Future, 5915 Zebulon Road, Macon GA 31210 or Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon GA 31210.
Allen was born in Quincy, Florida to the late Allen Hansel and Myrtice Gavin Roberts. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Myron Roberts and Lynwood Roberts, and son-in-law, Glenn Bryan. He served in the United States Navy and then started his career with the Telephone Company (Southern Bell and AT&T) and retired after forty years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the Lions Club. He received a special award for being the oldest active member to volunteer for the Lions Club. After retirement he volunteered with the libraries to work with the talking book machines (helping the blind). Allen was a former member of Mabel White Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, taught Sunday School and missions to boys. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle.
He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Ann Cox Roberts, children, Cindy Bryan, Melanie (Doug) Pyron, Jenny (Talmadge) Smith, Lisa Greene, and Kevin (Cindy) Roberts, grandchildren, Justin (Ashley) Pyron, Daniel Bryan, Barrett (Nadya) Bryan, Jordan(Corbin) Martin, Elizabeth (Justin) Backus, Alex (Brittani) Smith, Austin Chamblee, Wade Greene, Tate Greene, Holt Roberts, Reese Roberts, seven great grandchildren, Wilder, Rosalind, Nolan, Wrenn, Talyn, Charli and Barry and several nieces and nephews.
