Russell Neil Bowden, 61, of Macon, Georgia, joined his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 11, 2014. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 16th, at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue, with Dena Douglas Hobbs officiating. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, October 15th, at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to any hospice organization.
Russell valued his family above all else and enjoyed spending his time golfing, bicycling, traveling, and cooking with them. He was gifted with the ability to build and repair nearly anything, and he loved to help friends and family at every opportunity. He retired from Robins Air Force Base as an Electronics Maintenance Production Supervisor with over 35 years of service.
Russell is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Joanie Carpenter Bowden, son Brandon (April) Bowden, and daughter Courtney Bowden; parents Doyal and June Bowden, sisters Michelle (James) Fair and Karen (John) Bellanca, and brother Scott (Deborah) Bowden; mother-in-law Chessie Carpenter, sisters-in-law Kay (Louis) Goolsby and Gina (Brian) Russell, and brother-in-law Mike (Julia) Carpenter; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Eugene Carpenter.
