MACON – Sandi Waits Estes, 45, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Ingleside Baptist Church. Burial will be held prior at 1:00 p.m. in Riverside Cemetery. Both services are open to the public. Dr. Tim McCoy will officiate. The family will greet friends following the Celebration of Life and ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Jay’s Hope Foundation, 1157 B Forsyth Street, Macon 31201.
Sandi was born in Griffin, Georgia and had lived in Macon for the past 22 years. She was a graduate of Griffin High School, received her paralegal degree and practiced in Florida and Macon, then graduated from Georgia College with her BSN and followed up with her Master’s from Kennesaw State University. Sandi then became a nurse practitioner for Primary Pediatrics. She was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church, was recognized by the Macon Telegraph as Nurse of the Year and had a special love for Mission Medical Trips through the church. She was the daughter of the late James Richmond Waits, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Mike Estes of Macon; children, Caroline Estes, John Michael Estes, Alli Estes and Mark Estes all of Macon; mother and step-father, Connie and Glen Otis of Griffin; maternal grandmother, Margaret Sutherland of Griffin; sister, Nikki (Mike) Neel of Griffin; brother, Reggie (Denise) Waits of Griffin; step-brothers, Gary (Rhonda) Otis and Michael (Michelle) Otis both of Griffin; step-sister, Karol Gray of Griffin; sister-in-law, Connie Owens of Pensacola, FL; several nieces and nephews.
