Sharon Martin Berkner, age 70, of Dry Branch, Georgia, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Bass Road, with visitation beginning at 3:00 PM. Pastor Scott Davidson will officiate. Burial will be private.
Born in Yorktown, Virginia, Sharon was the daughter of the late Norman Winfred Martin and Mary Luke Walker Martin Treiber. As a young teenager, her family moved to Georgia, where she would build the life she loved and call home for the rest of her years.
Sharon dedicated an incredible 47 years of her life to dental office administration. She was known for her strong work ethic, caring heart, and the lasting relationships she built with both coworkers and patients throughout her career.
Above all else, Sharon loved her family. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an avid reader who could often be found with a good book nearby, and she enjoyed camping, sitting around a campfire, and making memories with the people she loved.
Sharon especially loved to travel. She treasured trips to Branson, Missouri, the Keys, and many visits to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, where she delighted in pushing her beloved Chiweenie, Oliver, around in a stroller. As she often said, "God bless his sweet soul. And he loved it too—you could tell he felt like a little king.”
Her most cherished destination, however, was Alaska. After writing a school report about Alaska at the age of 14, she finally fulfilled her lifelong dream of visiting there last year thanks to the generosity of others. She often said, "Alaska is the most beautiful place in the world. I haven't seen much of the world, but I know nothing could beat that place. It's like time stood still."
Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Chad Berkner; her daughters, Dana Tice (Chris) of Macon, Georgia, and Brandi Alkire (Mason) of Madison, Georgia; her grandchildren, Makenzie Lewis (Austin) of Gordon, Georgia, Paige Brummett (Blake) of Halifax, Virginia, Joshua Tice of Grovetown, Georgia, Savannah and Jessica Tice of Macon, Georgia, Nash and Walker Alkire of Madison, Georgia; and her great-grandchildren, Drake and Makenna Lewis, Kaelyn, Treiber, Heidi, and Brantley Brummett, Rowynn Stewart, and Mira and Eileen Tice.
She is also survived by her sisters, Susan Harrelson of Juliette, Georgia, Diane Daniels (Gene) of Rentz, Georgia, and Kim Bish (Daniel) of Lizella, Georgia; her mother-in-law, Cindy Berkner of Byron, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Wendy Berkner and Tracy Berkner of Byron, Georgia; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman Winfred Martin and Mary Luke Treiber; her stepfather, Ernie Treiber; her father-in-law, Jerry Berkner; and her lifelong best friend, Gwynn Criswell.
Sharon's life was defined not by grand gestures, but by steadfast love, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to the people she cherished. She found joy in the simple things—a good book, a warm campfire, a beloved pet, a family gathering, and dreams fulfilled. Her love leaves a lasting imprint on all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
