Vera T. Brown, 69, passed away Friday, December 7, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday at Avondale Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Marty Watson, the Rev. Foster Bell and the Rev. Ben Adkison will officiate. The family will meet friends from 1 p.m. to service time on Sunday at the church. They suggest that those who wish make memorial contributions to Avondale Baptist Church, 6970 Cochran Field Road, Macon 31216.
Mrs. Brown, daughter of the late Alvin Tyre and Ethel Dempsey Tyre, was born in Jasper, FL and had lived in Macon since 1974. She had taught K-4 Classes and was a devoted homemaker. After retiring from teaching, she found great joy in visiting old friends and new friends in local health care nursing homes. She was a member of Avondale Baptist Church. Her greatest blessing was as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Her memory will be cherished by her family, her husband, Don Brown of Macon; her daughters, Penny Brown (Eddie) Nobles of Byron and Karen Brown ( Brian) Fulwood of Fort Valley; her beloved grandchildren, Matthew Nobles, Tyler Nobles, Garrett Fulwood and Luke Fulwood; her brothers, Lewis (Louise) Tyre and Gene Tyre, both of Florida; her sister, Hazel Warner of Florida; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
