MACON – Virgil Tom Kitchens, 84, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Burial will be private for family only in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. David Hunter will officiate. The family will greet friends from 3 until 5 PM Sunday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street and asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, 6611 Zebulon Road, Macon 31210.
Mr. Kitchens was born in Dry Branch, Georgia and had lived in Middle Georgia for most of his life. He was retired from Bibb Manufacturing Company where he had 35 years of service. Mr. Kitchens was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and was the son of the late Stewart Samuel Kitchens and Leila Williams Kitchens. He was the widower of Clara Ethridge Kitchens and Dorothy Wood Kitchens and was preceded in death by his siblings, Arthur Kitchens, Hardy Lee Kitchens, Raymond Kitchens, James Kitchens, Joe Kitchens, Dell Moye, Louise Poppell, Annie Kee and Mattie Hurst.
Mr. Kitchens is survived by his daughter, Rhonda (Ronny) Sullivan of Macon; grandchildren, Erica, Monica, Shelly, Sarah and Tabitha Sullivan; brother, Bobby Kitchens of Macon; sister, Linda Nobles of Jeffersonville; several nieces and nephews.
