
RINGOLD, GA – Voncile Milo Wheeles Vinson, 87, died Wednesday, November 24, 2010 after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Joe McDaniel will officiate. The family will meet friends from 12:30 p.m. to service time on Sunday at the funeral home. They suggest that memorial contributions be made to the church of your choice or to your favorite charity.
Voncile was born October 15, 1923 in Fitzgerald, GA as one of eleven children of Thomas Abner Wheeles and Dona Dykes Wheeles. Raised in the middle Georgia area, she eventually worked in the bomb making plant. She also moved to New York to attend cosmetology school. After receiving her cosmetology license, she returned to Georgia where she met the love of her life, J. T. Vinson, Jr. They were married in January 1947. After many years of owning her own beauty shop in Macon, she returned to school in the ‘70s to earn her licensed practical nurse certification. Voncile then worked in the hospital in Warner Robins, GA and at Keebler in Macon as an industrial nurse.
Voncile and J. T. were active for many years at Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, was a part of the Women’s Missionary Union and sang in the choir. There were also active in the Southern Bell/Bell Sough Retirees Club, the Pioneers. In recent years, she moved to Ringgold to be near her daughter. After the move, she became active in the senior adult activities of the First Baptist Church of Ringgold.
Voncile was preceded in death by J. T., her husband of fifty-one years and by all of her siblings except one.
She is survived by her sons, Ted M. Vinson and his wife, Donna of Marietta, GA; Clarence T. Vinson and his wife, Melinda of Marietta, GA and her daughter, Theresa Adams and her husband, Garry of Ringgold, GA. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Brandon Hamilton and his wife, Rose of Decatur, GA, Alisa Hamilton of Asheville, NC, Tammy Vinson of San Francisco, CA, Natalie Vinson of Marietta, GA and Kelsey Vinson of Marietta, GA. She is also survived by her brother, Douglas Wheeles of Gordon, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.
