The Avera Family

Dear Mitchum Family, our Dad, James Avera, Jr., worked at BSO together for many years. Our fond memories of Mr. Mitchum was going to his home on Bowden St. and picking up our Boxer puppy. Years after Lady passed, we got another Boxer from Mr. Mitchum. This is where my love of Boxers started.

Our Dad thought the world of Mr. Mitchum. I am sure they have already reminisced many stories of their time with Bibb Sheriff Office.

Our thoughts and prayers.

One of the great men that I worked for in my life. It was an honor to work for Major Mitchum. He was a man who stood up for his men and women.
He could chew you out for something and then it was over. He was a very fair man to work for.
You could always depend on him to be the first on the cell blocks when their was a problem. He always had our backs.
I am thankful for his service to our country as a Marine and Deputy Sheriff.
May God bless his family and give them peace and strength.
