Walter Lee Thompson Sr.

Walter Lee Thompson, Sr., 82, died Monday, February 06, 2017 at a local hospital. Funeral services with Military Honors will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Milledgeville. The Rev. Joe McDaniel will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Wednesday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue.

Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Cornwell Thompson. He was the son of the late James Walter and Dora Rooks Thompson and was also preceded in death by his son, Walter Lee Thompson, Jr. and a great-grandson, Dillon Scaggs. Sgt. Thompson was retired from the U. S. Marine Corps serving during the Korean War. He was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include his family, his son, Jeffrey (Debra) Edward Thompson; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his sister, Mary Seigler and a number of nieces and nephews.
