

Macon- William Bert Langley, 67, passed away on August 9, 2012 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00, Monday, August 13, 2012 at Ingleside Baptist Church with Dr. Mark Hudgins officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
Mr. Langley was born in Union, South Carolina to the late Louise Vaughan Langley and James Carroll Langley. He graduated from Union High School in 1963, where he was later inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame. He graduated from Gardner Webb Junior College in 1965, where he played football, ran track and served as student body president. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1968, with a Business Degree in Insurance. While at Georgia he was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity. During his time at UGA he served in the National Guard.
Upon graduation he went to work with State Farm Insurance in Greenville, South Carolina. In 1986, he moved to Macon, Georgia to serve as Claims Superintendent and did so until his retirement in 2004. A past member of several insurance organizations and the Sertoma Club, Mr. Langley was currently serving as secretary and vice-president Dixie Seniors Golf Association and the Burger King Breakfast club. He was an avid golfer and loved the Georgia Bulldogs, Ole Miss Rebels and traveling with his grandchildren.
Mr. Langley is survived by his loving wife: Gail Curl Langley of Macon; daughters: Kimberly Langley (Dre’) Faulkner of Macon, Kristin Langley (Tom) Barron of Newnan; son: William Bert “Skip” (Sarah) Langley III of Oxford, Mississippi; grandchildren: Gary Andre Faukner III, Langley Anne Faulkner, Margaret Gail Barron, Thomas Willis Barron III and MacKenzie Louise Barron; sister: June Langley (Jim) Carroll of Seneca, South Carolina.
Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Cowart, Gary Dunagan, Raymond Douglas, Frank Manning, Larry Smith, Cubbedge Snow, Jr., Edgar Stembridge and Alan Woods. The family requests that Dixie Seniors Golf Association serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
