Born on January 25, 1935, in Waldwick, NJ, Ann was the seventh of nine children and the beloved daughter of Jeremiah and Viola Streelman. She grew up in Hackensack, NJ. She truly began her life filled with family, friendships, adventure, and a determination to make the most of every moment, at her home on Fox Hill Road in Fairfield, NJ.
Ann spent more than 21 years working as a salesgirl, manager, and buyer at Roses Bridal Shops and Indescribable casual women's clothing. With her independent spirit and entrepreneurial determination, she went on to open her own bridal shop, Page One, in Fairfield, NJ. Later, she attended Montclair State College for her own interests while working at Starline Optical in Accounts Payable, where she remained until her retirement.
Ann had a true love of life and a fun-loving spirit that stayed with her throughout her 91 years. She was passionate about travel, culture, and experiencing the world. She treasured her summer home in Seaview on Fire Island, NY, loved Elvis, and enjoyed working her New York Times crossword puzzles. But perhaps what she loved most was sharing the things that brought her joy with the people she loved.
Ann was deeply devoted to her family and was generous with her time, her heart, and her resources. Giving back was important to her, and she supported many charities throughout her life. She was emotional and affectionate and never afraid to show how much she cared. Her love was expressed openly and wholeheartedly.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Lorraine; her three grandchildren, Tara, Jonathan, and Gabrielle; and her five great-grandchildren, Aiden, Talya, Charlie, Dolev, and Asher. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John “Jack” Pagerie; her second husband, Nathan “Papa Nate” Kirsch; and her beloved son, Louis Pagerie. Ann was also the last surviving member of her family of nine siblings.
Ann's passing leaves an enormous space in the lives of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, grandchildren, friends, and many nieces and nephews. They will remember her for her fiery spirit, determination, generosity, affection, and zest for life, as well as for the many memories she created along the way.
A memorial service and celebration of Ann's life will be held in New Jersey. Details will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ann P. Kirsch's memory to DAV, Wounded Warrior Project, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Doctors Without Borders, or the American Red Cross.
Ann loved us all. She taught us to embrace life, to give generously, to love openly, and to keep moving forward with determination and spirit.
She will remain forever in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
May she rest in peace.
