

Sachs- Ann Thurston Greenhalgh Sachs , 77 of Madison died peacefully Monday Sept. 10, 2012, at her home. She was the widow of K. Norman Sachs Jr. They were married Aug. 10, 1957 and were married for 54 years until his passing in Jan. of 2011. Ann was born in Pawtucket RI and grew up there and in Seekonk, MA. She attended Walnut Hill High School and graduated from Wheaton College with a BA. Mrs. Sachs has been a resident of Madison for 40 years since 1972. Prior to that from 1962-1972 she was a resident of Potomac MD. She also wintered in Stuart FL. Mrs. Sachs served on the board of Madison Community Services and was a member of the Madison Garden Club, the Madison Beach Club, the Winter Club, and the Madison Congregational Church. She was an avid bridge player and an amazing crossword puzzle solver. In earlier years she volunteered her time and talents to the American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, and other organizations. She loved to play the piano, which she practiced daily. She adored the various pets she had through her life. She also was an accomplished seamstress. She had many friends whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by a brother , Tom, a sister, Gail besides her husband. She is survived by her children, Katherine Sachs Tucker and her husband Timothy McDevitt, Margaret Sachs Reardon and her husband William Reardon, Annette Sachs Cook and her husband Geoff, and Karl Gordon Sachs and his long-time companion Suzanne DiBiase. She also leaves 2 brothers, Charles Gordon Greenhalgh, and George Greenhalgh, as well as her grandchildren, Mark Andrew Wyzykowski, Karen Wyzykowski Guice, Kristin Ann Tucker, Patrick Russell Tucker, Kate Elizabeth Tucker, Anna Truckenbrodt Sachs, Keith Truckenbrodt Sachs, Cameron George Cook, and Curtis Maxwell Cook. Mrs Sachs also leaves 2 great grandchildren, Brody Guice, and Natalie Guice. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday September 14, 2012 at 11:00 in the Madison Congregational Church.
