Barbara Jean Sarnowski, 76, of Killingworth passed away on April 30, 2021. She passed peacefully with her Husband, Daughter Gina and Niece Suzanne by her side. Born on October 16, 1944 in New Haven, CT, she was the daughter of the late Dino J. Nardini and Stella (Lowenski) Nardini. Barbara will be greatly missed by the love of her life, her husband Stanley Sarnowski whom she married in 1987 in South Windsor.
Barbara had a great many passions, she loved to create pottery, dancing in all its forms, and couldn’t get enough of the beach, and soaking up the sunshine was one of her favorite pastimes. She loved to travel, Italy being her favorite place to go. As Barbara got older she developed a soft spot for online shopping and computer games, she was the Candy Crush champion of the family. She had a huge amount of love for all children. She was a devoted animal lover, she and her husband have had many dogs over the course of their 34 year marriage, but her favorite dog was Carley Rose. Barbara was an accomplished dog shower, she could be found traveling to dog shows on any given weekend. Her greatest accomplishment of all time being championing her soft coated Wheaton Terrier, Alastar, at Pace University.
Barbara found her joy in many things, but above all else she loved her family and made them her highest priority. No one could out host Barbara for a family party.
Barbara is predeceased by her sister Judith Fontana, her brother Denis Nardini, and her parents.
She is survived by her husband, her daughters Gina Gallagher, of Durham, CT, and Kristina St. John of New London, CT. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Shelbie Lynn Gallagher, Gillian Grace Gallagher, and Brandon Della Valle. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, especially Suzanne Stevens who Barbara was like a mother to.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 11am at St. Mary’s Church of the Visitation located at 54 Grove St. Clinton, CT 06413.
To honor her passion for dogs, in lieu of flowers Barbara’s family ask that donations be made to the Connecticut Humane Society or the ASPCA.
