Happy Birthday,  we remembered your day and offered up prayers

Your birthday was remembered and celebrated during Mass. Dad and family shared happy memories of our time with you.

Today would have been your birthday and there is a sad but sweet remembrance. You are always in our thoughts and prayers...especially today.

Mr and Mrs Caulin; although I have long disappeared from your memories, I will always remember your beautiful daughter and her amazing family. I first met Patti in the summer of 1968. We became friends and ultimately boyfriend/girlfriend. I will always have fond memories of her sharp wit and sense of humor. I remember helping to teach her to drive and on one occasion, while going through Lynbrook, she spotted Mr Caulin, who was walking on the sidewalk. Patti beeped the horn and Mr Caulin, acting as if he were in fear for his safety, pretended to dive for cover behind a parked car. I remember thinking what a great relationship she had with her dad. As if it were yesterday, I remember how proud she was of both of you, and of Teri and Billy as well. I regret that I never had the opportunity to properly express to Patti what an honor it was to have been her friend and to have known her wonderful family. Thank you for the great memories.

Dear Aunt Eileen, Uncle Bill, Teri and Bill,
It is with a heavy heart that I can finally put in writing my sorrow for the loss of Patti who was truly an angel on earth.  There is some consolation knowing that she returned " home" peacefully in the silence of the night. I've had little flashbacks of memories of Patti who was like a living Barbie to me as a little girl.  I remember her telling me how she ironed her long beautiful hair with the front blonde streaks. I can still hear her sweet voice singing "Do You Want To Know A Secret, do I do...". She had a warm, loving way about her and contagious laugh with a beautiful smile.  I have many fond memories of visits to the red house in 
Lynbrook and summer parties in CT!  My most precious moment occurred after going on a Pilgrimage to Fatima and Lourdes with Mom and praying for Patti.  When we returned we were thrilled to find out she was able to leave the nursing home and move into her own place!  I was fortunate to visit with her in both places.  I regret not visiting more often. But, she had often been in my thoughts and prayers.  Now I will be praying to her as I am sure she is amongst the angels in heaven. God be with you all as I'm

Patti suffered great pain with peace and dignity.  We miss her dearly.  Our thoughts and prayers are with her and all our family.

I know Patti suffered constant physical pain from her old injuries, yet she always offered it up for others.  Her kind, gentle, loving personality always inspired me when I was down or struggling.  My pains were nothing compared to Patti's and thinking of her often helped me tough it out when I felt like complaining.
I remember Patti at family gatherings.  She was one of the first 'adults' who would take the time to sit down and really talk and listen, even when I was a young teen.  You knew she cared.
We get tied up in our own little worlds, and it has been several years since I have seen Patti, but Mom kept me posted on how she was doing and her visits and phone conversations.  I know she is in Heaven.
Aunt Eileen and Uncle Bill, Teri and Billy and families, you are all in our thoughts and prayers.  It is not easy losing someone close.  It leaves a hole in your heart.  But I am glad God gave us Patti for the time we had her and I look forward to joining her someday in Heaven.

Dear Eileen and Bill,  Words cannot express  the sorrow of losing your friend and companion of years, your daughter, Patti.  Her loss will be felt especially by you, her sister, Teri, her brother, Billy, and their families.  In addition, the extended family  of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends; they too will feel the loss of the beautiful, gracious and fun loving Patti.
Time will ease the pain, but the loss of joy will remain with you for quite some time.  Then that, too, will return.  Patti will remain in our hearts, never to be forgotten.  I wish I had the words to express my sincere sense of your loss, but these sentiments will have to do.  My love and prayers are with you today and always. Patti was my birthday mate as we shared the same day of birth.  I will certainly miss her - her good nature, warm friendship, happy smile, and wonderful outlook on life.  I am grateful she passed without incident and firmly believe she is happy in a better place.  Love, Uncle Ray.

Words are not enough to express how I feel about Eileen and Bill's loss of our dearest Patti.  She was a beautiful, sincere, loving and considerate woman and daughter.  I know she brought her family much comfort and love.

Patti was always in my daily prayers.  I feel some comfort in the fact that I had a beautiful conversation with her the day she passed.  I expressed to her how much I loved her and my regret that I was not able to spend some time with her this past year.  I told her she was a saint for all her suffering.  I feel God called her home to a better place.  All my love, Aunt Phyllis.

You are in our prayers and thoughts. I hope you find comfort and peace. Carry with you the pride, love, and joy of family that runs deep for you among your parents, cousins, brothers, sisters, aunts, and uncles. 



As a parent, my biggest fear is losing a child. To Aunt Eileen and Uncle Bill, we send our condolences and love. May Patti rest comfortably, and may her heart always bring you with her.

Teri and Bill, I hope that the happy times of your childhood together, and the laughs you shared as adults be the memories that come in times when you miss her most.

We love you all, and believe that eternal love that will always hold family together.

   When I think back on my times with Patti, I remember my beautiful cousin who always seemed to be kind, happy and loving; she made me feel special when I was with her.  It has been a number of years since I last saw Patti, and over the past few months I was wishing that I could spend time with her.  I had recently learned that Patti had taken ill and I thought that in the near future I may have occasion to see Patti if she were up for a visit.  So, over the past few months, Patti was in my thoughts and prayers.
   On Sunday night, around midnight, I was in bed about to say my nightly rosary, I envisioned myself visiting Patti in her apartment.  This was unusual for me because I do not normally envision people or places during prayer.  In this vision, I asked Patti if she prayed the Rosary and if she would like to pray with me.  I mentioned that if she did not have rosary beads we could count on our fingers.  She said that she praid the Rosary on occasion and that she had rosary beads.  It was then that I envisioned a clear light blue beaded rosary.  So, in my vision we began to pray the Our Father.  Patti stopped me and said she could not pray out loud, but that I should continue for us both, and that she would listen and follow.  I remember thinking at the time that maybe she was feeling too weak to pray out loud.  I continued to pray the Rosary out loud and when I was done, Patti said she was at peace and was comforted hearing my voice in prayer.  I thought that was such a sweet compliment and was happy that maybe my voice in prayer could provide such comfort.
   The next day, I learned that Patti had passed that night.  I thought back to my vision and realized that perhaps the reason Patti could not pray out loud was that she was already on her way back Home to Eternal Rest.  I was sad that I would not have a chance to spend more time with Patti, as I had planned.  But, in some small way, I would like to think that my Rosary prayer lifted Patti up and provided her some comfort and peace on her journey back to the Father.  I vowed that since I would not get a chance to visit Patti again, that each night I would spend time with Patti in prayer saying the Rosary, for the repose of her soul, and that she may have peace and comfort with the Lord.
   My love to Patti and to the Caulin family, may the peace of Chrst the Lord be with you always.  Love, Ray.

Dearest Patti:
My heart was broken when I had heard you had passed and I find it difficult to share my deepest feelings. I will miss you & our phone conversations we have shared. Also I will miss the times we shared at the lake house having our morning coffee with Uncle Frank on the deck. We were looking forward to having you with us next Summer again and of course I would decorate the deck with the palm trees you did so enjoy.
Our Grandchildren Teagan, Kaley & Aislinn loved you so much. They always ask for you especially Kaley who would ask "Where's Patti?" It was a blessing to be able to share so many wonderful holidays & celebrations with you & to have so many laughs throughout the years.
Patti, I watched you grow from an infant into a beautiful, sensitive young woman who possessed a good sense of humor, a cheerful smile and caring ways. You will be missed but never forgotten my dear niece. May the Angels surround you with their love & warmth and the Good Lord hold you in His arms. May you be at peace & may we join you one day in Heaven.

  You can view death as a loss, leaving a void but I choose not to. There is no void when it comes to warm thoughts and happy memories of my cousin Patti.
   To me, her journey on this earth has ended but her spirit is stronger than ever.     
God knows what he is doing. He called her home to walk freely besides him and free she now is.  Her physical struggles on this earth were more than any of us could imagine. She didn't complain, she didn't whine.She always greeted me with the warmest hello.
   Patti offered affection, laughter and friendship. She offered guidance when I asked. Patti gave me her love freely. She loved me. I loved her so. Patti was my family, my first roomate, my beautiful cousin. Someone I admired. Someone who made me feel cherished, special and happy. Her down to earth ways and her giant smile could make anyone feel at home. Her cards and letters I will always have to read for I kept them all.
   As a woman, I have had my own struggles. Pat helped me very much by sharing, by being approachable and by answering difficult questions I might have posed. She never hesitated to offer guidance. She was a blessing to me. To our family.
   I hear her voice and laughter echo now as I write and I sit asking why? Why did Patti have to leave us now? We don't need to search for an answer.  This is out of our control. What brings me solace is knowing that Heaven is brighter with Patti in it. Maybe they needed an example of strength, a few more laughs and another hand to hold. She is lost from us for this moment because God needed another beautiful mold.

To my Aunt Eileen, Uncle Bill, Godmother Teri and cousin Bill,
I am grateful for having known your daughter and sister. She humbled me. I loved her. My deepest sympathies and love,

My sister reflected so many attributes I admireda loving heart, a generous spirit, a fabulous sense of humor, and an outgoing and welcoming personality. Although I did not tell her often enough, she reflected the best of all I aspired to be as a person. Patti had the unique ability to make everyone feel like a welcomed family member within minutes of meeting them. 
She was completely devoted to our parents. My parents were barely into their 20's when they brought Patti home from the hospital to their first tiny apartmentfrom the very start the three of them formed a unique bond none of us could disrupt! I can't even imagine the loss they are feeling but know all of our prayers will help them through this final journey.
 Although we were all different in many ways, Patti, Billy and I were also the same. We shared the same beginnings, the same wonderful family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephewsand now we share a temporary ending. We shared a story, and together, we all gave the story meaning and context. Part of that story died on 11/21/16 and part of our identity died too. We are comforted by knowing this is a temporary separation and we will all be together in Heaven one day.
