Ellie "Ruby" Reilly

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ellyn “Ellie” “Ruby” Akemi Reilly, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 9, 2026, at the age of 66.

Ellie was born on October 27, 1959, in New York, New York to Elliot and Masako Herman. She grew up in Hastings on Hudson, New York, where she graduated high school in 1977 and went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York, Purchase. She married the love of her life, Billy on August 31, 1985.

Ellie is survived by her beloved husband, William, her four children, Benjamin Reilly, Courtney Bennett (Michael), William Reilly and Seamus Reilly. Her three beautiful grandchildren, Charlotte, Liam and Michael, who adored her, sister Amy Braham, brother Hunter Herman, and numerous brother and sister-in laws, nieces and nephews. In addition to her family, Ellie was a cherished friend to many.

Whether offering a listening ear, sharing a laugh, or lending a helping hand, her warmth and generosity made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Ellie was a devoted mother, whose love for her children knew no bounds. She was a gentle guide and steadfast presence, always encouraging them to explore their full potential. Her kindness, wisdom, humor, faith and her deep relationship with Jesus Christ will live on in the hearts and lives she touched. She will be missed deeply but never forgotten.

Calling hours will be at Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Road, Madison on Friday, January 23, from 3:00 to 7:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial is to follow at St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, January 24, at 11:00 am.
