Ethel Gay Christ

Ethel Gay Christ passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, at the age of 85. She was born on April 4, 1941 and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She moved to East Meadow, NY and raised her 4 children. She graduated from Sacred Heart HS in Cambria Heights. She retired and enjoyed 20 years in Palm Coast, FL before returning to Madison, CT.

Ethel enjoyed her retirement years painting, quilting, and spending time with friends. The Madison Senior Center brought her great joy.

She is preceded in death by her husband John Christ and 3 siblings Maureen Bertino, Kenneth Robinson and Warren Robinson.

Ethel leaves behind her children Charles Christ and Diane Keena from Hicksville NY, Kathy Christ from Palm Coast, FL, Lorrie and Dave Schaller from Madison, CT and Julie and Anthony DeVito from West Islip, NY.

She was also survived by her grandchildren Matthew Keena, Julia Plank, Brian Schaller and Allison Schaller, John DeVito and Olivia DeVito as well as her two great grandchildren Andrew Schaller and Madelyn Schaller.

The family would like to thank The Guilford House for the care and compassion they showed Ethel in her final days. A celebration of Ethel’s life will be scheduled later this summer.
