

He was born on October 10, 1936, in New Haven, the son of Dominic and Laura Onofrio.
He was the widower of Sharon Onofrio.
Eugene was a Construction Contractor. He retired from his business in 2008. He enjoyed spending his time with his grandchildren and great grandchild. He enjoyed his trips about town meeting with his friend Jim and others whom he enjoyed spending time with. Life with Gene, Dad, Grandpa, Pop or Grandfather, as he was called, was "never a dull moment - every moment was so full. Unconventional at the very least but lived a full life to the very most". He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Mr. Onofrio is survived by his children Brian V. Onofrio, Sr. (Jacqueline) of Madison, Terri L. Onofrio of Old Saybrook, Gena O. Trant, of Lancaster, MA, Dominic Onofrio (Teena) of Indianapolis, Paulita of New Haven, Sherri Benson ( Bill) of Columbia, SC, Timothy Haff of Indianapolis, and Zachary Haff and his wife Liz of Waterford; his siblings Thomas Onofrio of Bloomsberg, PA, Nancy Robords of Avoca, NY, and Carol Montfort of Rochester, NY ; 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was predeceased by his sons Gene Scott Onofrio and Richard Haff; and his sister Janet Onofrio.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday January 16th from 4-7pm at Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Rd., Madison. Burial will be private.
