OBITUARY

Filomena Guardiano

December 20, 1926December 1, 2019

This week, we are sorry to share that we’ve lost a formidable member of our family. Philomena Guardiano lived an incredible life of 93 years, coming to this country at the age of 26 with a few dollars in her pocket and only speaking her native Italian language. After working for several years to bring the rest of the family over from Italy, she and her husband moved the family to CT to live the American Dream and raise 3 boys. She worked at Guilford Gravure alongside her husband Ralph for many years. After losing her husband at 47, she decided to start a new business at the age of 60 and ran it successfully for 25 years. It is because of her entrepreneurial spirit that we have The Homestead in Madison and Guardiano family today. She is survived by her three sons, Jerry, Ralph and Rob Guardiano, her 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. We love you Philomena Guardiano. You and your broccoli rabe will be missed. All Services will be held by Swan Funeral Home located on 80 E Main St Clinton, CT 06413.

Having never actually met Filomena but knowing Ralph from working at the Homestead, which as I understand it Filomena owned and operated previous to her retirement, I have the deepest respect and admiration for her and her family for their contribution to the community. Filomena clearly instilled her tenacious work ethic in her family through love and dedication. My deepest condolences to Ralph and the entire Guardiano family in this time of loss.
God Bless,

I will always remember her as a class act. She was like a Donna Reed Mom, everything for her ws her 3 boys. I remember sleeping over her hone and she treated me like one of her boys. She use to laugh a lot because her youngest son will always say I look like Freddie Prince, so every time he saw me, he would yell Chico and the man, and she would look at me and say what is he saying. So I had to explain it to her, that it was a tv show character that I look like.... rip
