Howard James Bayley Jr. 69 of Clinton, lost his hard fought battle with cancer and passed away September 21, 2011 at Middlesex Hospital. He was born in Middletown, CT, the son of the late Howard J. Bayley Sr. and Elizabeth (Overend) Bayley. He is survived by his loving wife of over 42 years, Marie (Caione) Bayley and children Douglas Bayley and his wife Kelly (Draughon) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Louise Bayley of Clinton; Stephen Bayley and his wife Eliska (Ouellette) of E. Haddam; grandchildren: Thomas, Sarah, Anna, Mary and Peter Bayley and Abigail Klein. Jim is also survived by his brother, Conrad Bayley and his wife Deborah of Az. his sister, Howadette Violissi of Az, his sister in law, Virginia Bayley of Cape Cod as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Jim was raised in New Britain and attended local schools. After graduating high school, he served in the US Air Force. Jim retired from the Connecticut Water Company where he was employed as a computer programmer. He was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus of St Lawrence Church. Jim was a classic car enthusiast and some of his happiest moments were spent working on his Chevelle.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Dr. Suzanne Hong, Dr. Robert Levy and the nurses and staff of Connecticut Oncology as well as to the nurses and staff of the Middlesex Hospice Unit for their support and care over the last year.
Family will receive friends from 3 to 7 PM Sunday, September 25 at the Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Rd., Madison. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Route 81, Killingworth with Committal to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Britain.
