In addition to Jan's many years of loyal friendship, her kindness & compassion shown toward my mother in her darkest hours while suffering with breast cancer in the early 1990's will never be forgotten.  Jan's uplifting and humorous visits were so meaningful and deeply appreciated by our family ! Jan was our first athletic trainer at Hand High School.  She worked beyond expectations to rehab, heal and love our athletes for many years.  Jan has been a personal savior for me, as the football coach at the time.  I will always have fond memories and gratitude for Jan Carroll.  I believe that she will have everlasting life.

I was saddened to hear that Aunt Janet had passed away. My condolences go to my cousins who have lost their mother and a wonderful person.  Even though I have not had the opportunity to see many in the Carroll family for far too many years, I still feel a connection to everyone from the times that we did spend together.  I have fond memories of my family's visits to your house on Fairfield Pl.   

When my Dad passed away in 1985 the following words were given to me.   I now would like to pass them on to you.
                                   
       A WORD OF CONSOLATION
     If a tiny baby could think, it would be afraid of birth.  To leave the only world it has known would seem a kind of death.  But immediately after birth the child would find itself in loving arms, showered with affection and cared for at every moment.  Surely the baby would say, “I was foolish to doubt God's Plan for me.  This is a beautiful life.”
     For the Christian, passing through death is really a birth into a new and better world.  Those who are left behind should not grieve as if there were no hope.  Life is changed, not taken away.  Our dear ones live on, in a world beautiful beyond anything we can imagine.  With Jesus and Mary they await the day when they will welcome us with joy.
     “Do not grieve too much,” they say to us. “We are living and are still with you.”

I was heartborken to learn of Jan's passing.  She was such a nice person.  I will never forget her from my days at DHHS - she was always there with a smile but with a resolve to do her very best for the school, its staff and students, and especially her family.  She will be deeply missed.

Paul and I were so sorry to hear of your mom's passing.  Do any of you remember when Paul had the 'bike'accident with Billy or John's dirt bike?  He limped back to the house carrying the bike all cut up,  your mom told him to drop his pants so she could check him out.  I'll never forget what wonderful people your mom and dad were, I will carry fond memories of them in my heart.  Love to all of you, Deb (Wood) O'Brien.
