Janet Messina

Janet Messina, 76, of East Haven, CT, died in New Haven, CT, on August 5, 2022, from complications after a fall. Janet was born in New Haven, CT, and was the daughter of the late Domenick and Immaculata (Lucarelli) Messina. She grew up in East Haven, CT, and graduated from East Haven High School. She was a successful businesswoman with an incredible talent in marketing. Janet loved her family and spent many years of her life taking care of her mother, brother Michael, and her brother Anthony in his final months of life. Janet was especially close to her sister Anne.

Janet was an excellent cook who loved making special meals to share with family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling and had especially fond memories of her time spent in Hawaii and Italy. In her later years, she had many extended stays with her brother Michael and his family in Washington surrounded by her nieces, their husbands, her grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Janet is survived by her brother, Michael (Kim) Messina, of Washington, as well as many nieces, a nephew, and cousins. She is predeceased by her siblings Anthony Messina, Anne Patton, and Richard Messina, all of whom she loved dearly. Her family would like to extend special thanks to Carmen for her helpfulness through the years and to her best friend Betty for being a wonderful source of comfort to Janet in her final days.
