Jean Beverly Gerrity, 87 years old, passed away at The Connecticut Hospice, Branford March 1, 2024. She courageously battled cancer for the last 8 years with great care from The Yale Medical Cancer Center at Smilow. She faced this illness with a positive attitude often attending her chemo sessions requesting a seat by the nurses’ station to keep up with the local “buzz.”
Jean (Zaccaria) Gerrity was born on December 1, 1936 in Bridgeport, CT to Alfonso Zaccaria and Ann (Piccirillo) Zaccaria. She graduated from Bassick High School in Bridgeport, CT where she was captain of the Cheerleading Squad.
She was a highly respected and successful Realtor for over 35 years with the memorable tag line “You Know Me…I Know the Shoreline.” For more than half those years, she (“the bad cop”) was part of the Mother-Daughter real estate duo with Pam Kadamus (“the good cop”) of The Gerrity & Kadamus Team. She was known by her colleagues as “quick witted, amazing sense of humor and a real estate warrior.”
Prior to becoming a Realtor, she worked at Gloria Stevens in Guilford, CT living her best life where she was a well-loved instructor and award-winning Manager.
Jean is predeceased by her long-time companion Tom Marone, her sister Eleanor Roballey, her brother Leonard Zaccaria, her infant daughter Melissa, granddaughter Aja Gerrity. She is survived by her sister Roseann Podrasky of Simsbury, CT and brother Alfonso Zaccaria of Tampa, FL, her children Jamison “Jamie” Gerrity of Madison, CT and her daughter Pamela Gerrity Kadamus and son in-law David Kadamus of Madison, CT. Lovingly known as “G-Ma” by her grandkids, she leaves behind her grandson Jameson Tan Gerrity, granddaughters Taylor Dolan and Lyndsay Dolan, Katie (Alex), Laura (Yves), Erin (Matt) and DJ (Maddie) and 6 great-grandchildren and her loyal dog Bear.
In her earlier years, Jean was an avid traveler. Her adventurous side included hot air ballooning, white water rafting, parasailing, family trip to Italy and the Netherlands where her son was stationed while in the Air Force.
Calling hours to celebrate Jean’s life will be on Thursday March 7, 2024 from 5pm to 7pm at the Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Road, Madison CT, A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 11:00 am in St. Margaret Church 24 Academy St. Madison, CT 06443.
