Jeanne Pardee Bevans
November 7, 1922 – August 30, 2019
Jeanne Pardee Bevans passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Friday August 30, 2019, after a few months at home following a recent stroke. She joins her daughter Melinda Ann (Bevans) Kvitvik, late of Oslo Norway, in eternal peace and will be laid to rest in Madison next to her late husband of 57 years, Michael H. Bevans. Michael and Jeanne were married in 1941, a year after Jeanne’s graduation from Englewood High School in New Jersey and 6 months before Pearl Harbor. Both of them had deep roots in Connecticut and have several of the founders of Norwich as well as other early arrivers in their family histories.
Many happy summer days were spent at the shore in Madison with Michael’s mother, Gladys Huntington Bevans, and later with their own children. They chose to return there after caring for Jeanne’s mother in Florida. After Michael passed, Jeanne moved to Portland to be near her younger son, Christopher Bevans.
She is survived by her sons Bruce Bevans of Atascadero, California and Christopher Bevans of Middletown, grandsons Sigurd and Hallvard Kvitvik of Norway, first cousins Betty Keay and Roger Wenman, and other cousins as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September, 7th directly in Trinity Episcopal Church, 345 Main St. in Portland.
Jeanne has always had a soft spot in her heart for animals. In lieu of flowers, of which she had so many in life, the family respectfully suggests that a donation be made to Protectors of Animals at poainc.org or to the shelter of your choice.
