Jerry McGurkin

Jerry M. McGurkin, age 74, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2023 from complications related to his courageous fight against esophageal cancer. He never once let his diagnosis keep him from the things he loved. Spending time with his beloved grandchildren and playing golf with friends was something he continued until the very end.

Jerry was born on August 1, 1948 in West Hartford, CT and was the loving son of the late Francis and Gertrude McGurkin. Jerry grew up in West Hartford as the oldest of nine children. He graduated from Central Connecticut State University and received his Masters in Business from University of New Haven. Jerry spent his career traveling the world and retired as Senior Vice President at Bacou-Dalloz.

Jerry is preceded in death by his beloved wife Patricia. He is survived by his three loving daughters and their families; Kelly Ploszay and her husband AJ, Erin White and her husband Alex, and Meghan Garza and her husband Alexander. He is also survived by the loves of his life, his six grandchildren. Jerry is also survived by his two sisters, Rose Fuhr and Katie Conway, and his two brothers Larry McGurkin and Joe McGurkin.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Margaret's Church, 24 Academy St., Madison, CT 06443. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made online in Jerry’s name by visiting American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
