Lynn Susan Blake

Lynn was born on October 12, 1950, in Teaneck, New Jersey. She grew up in Norwood, New Jersey, where she lived with her mother, Helen M. Dickson, her father, William J. Dickson, her brother, Wayne William Dickson, and the family dog Gigi. She attended Northern Valley Regional High School at Old Tappan. Lynn was very active in school clubs, and she loved attending the schools football games and school dances. After graduating high school, Lynn enrolled in Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York City. Upon graduation she went to work for Avon Corporation in New York. It was here that she met her best friend for life Pat Remes.

Lynn had many passions that she enjoyed such as gardening, and always trying out new recipes in the kitchen. She was an avid cook which led her to start a very successful catering company.

In 1978, Lynn married William Ashcroft, who was a Senior Vice President at Paramount Pictures. The marriage lasted 35 years, until Bill became seriously ill and passed on Christmas day in 2013.

In the late summer of 2014, Lynn met Alan Blake at a Madison Winter Club Picnic, and love re-entered her life. Alan had lost his wife to colon cancer in April of 2013. After a whirlwind of romance, they were married at the Madison Winter Club on October 18, 2015. They shared over 9 years of intense love and went on many vacations and trips together including to Spain, Italy, Ireland, Great Britain, as well as numerous places in the states.

In August of 2023, Lynn was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. After surgery and chemo, she returned to full health for over a year, but in the late summer of 2024, her health slackened, leading to hospitalization in December, and ultimately to her demise.

Lynn is survived by her husband Alan Blake, her brother Wayne Dickson, her sister-in-law Leslie Dickson, her nieces Susan Custer and Jackie Lannoote, her nephew William Dickson, her sisters-in-law Trudy Smith (Bernard) and Nancy Ashcroft, and her extended family.

Family and friends are invited to attend a service celebrating Lynn’s life on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11am, at Swan Funeral Home in Madison, Connecticut.
