Maureen Fogarty Manning, 75 of Madison, Connecticut, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends at Connecticut Hospice, Saturday, August 20th. Daughter of John Fogarty and Nora Higgins Fogarty, she grew up in Short Beach, Branford, with her sister Joan, where she made many life long friends. In 1966, she married Robert Manning of New Haven, CT. Maureen spent 30+ years, doing what she adored, driving the children of Madison, Connecticut to and from school everyday, but her spirit lives on through her three children: Megan and her husband Matt Winkler of Madison, CT; John and girlfriend Evelyn of Madison, CT; and Tom of Madison, CT; and always through her sister; Joan and her husband Richard Matz of Branford, CT. She will be greatly missed by her 2 granddaughters, Nora and Maeve Winkler, whom she was very devoted to. Additionally, Maureen spent many of her happy days at West Wharf Beach (Madison, CT), where you could always spot her smiling face with her family and friends. The family will be forever grateful for all the nurses and doctors of Connecticut Hospice, for their always loving care and devotion to Maureen and their patients. With Maureen spending so many endless summer days at Double Beach Club, being at the hospice brought her right back to joyful memories. Maureen will be remembered by her kind words, delicate smile, and her select humor. Someone once said, "You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough." Maureen did exactly that. She will forever hold a spot in everyone's lives she touched. Calling hours will be Wed. Aug 24, 2011 from 4 to 8 at the Swan Funeral Home 825 Boston Post Road in Madison. A Memorial Mass will be at St. Margaret's RC Church in Madison at 10 AM Thursday Aug 25, 2011. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family encourages a donation to be made to Hospice in Branford. Please visit www.swanfuneralhomemadison.com to leave an online tribute or condolences.
