Michael J. Callahan

November 10, 2021 after a courageous four year battle with ALS. Michael

was born in NYC on March 19, 1950 (St. Joseph’s Day) the son of the late

Josephine Callahan and Thomas Callahan. Michael grew up in Bethpage,

New York. He attended Brooklyn Preparatory School and later graduated

from Columbia University with a degree in Industrial Engineering in 1973.

Michael further pursued his MBA at Indiana University and the Executive

Leadership Program at University of Chicago while employed by

Bethlehem Steel in the Loop Management Division in Burns Harbor,

Indiana. He remained there until 1981 when he began his employment

with Chesebrough Ponds and Unilever Corp. in CT working as a Corporate

Strategic Planning Executive. Michael later enjoyed a successful venture;

Commercial Property Consulting Group, using his sharp engineering

background working as a consultant in the commercial real estate sector.

Michael was a proud and devoted father. He leaves behind his children

who have provided unending, loving care and support during his battle

with ALS. His son Jonathan Callahan, his daughter Lindsey and her

husband Dan Carroll, daughter Elizabeth Callahan and her companion,

Steven Johnson all of Madison, CT. His grandchildren Piper and Daniel

Carroll were the joys of his life. He is survived by his loving sisters Joanne

Callahan and Gail Torre and her husband Tom, nephews Tommy Torre and

Alexis Stavrou-Torre, Michael Torre and niece Christine Torre and fiancé

LillieTitcomb. Michael also leaves behind his former wife Leigh Patenaude

and long time companion Nancy Woods.

Visiting hours will be held at Swan Funeral Home 825 Boston Post Rd.

Madison, CT on Friday, November 19th at 5-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial

will be celebrated on Saturday, November 20th at 10am at St. Margaret

Church 24 Academy St. Madison, CT. Burial service following to be held

at West Cemetery, Boston Post Road Madison, CT. In lieu of flowers, the

family requests donations to ALS Therapy Development Institute
