Peter William Knapp

Peter William Knapp, age 77, of Madison, CT, passed away on December 17, 2012. Peter was born in Teaneck, NJ, on October 12, 1935 to the late William and Dina (Goeckler) Knapp. In addition to his parents, Peter was predeceased by his brothers Albert and Richard Knapp. After graduating from St. Cecilia High School in Englewood, NJ, Peter attended Rutgers University. While working in New York City, Peter met and married his best friend Barbara, and after living in NJ for a few years they moved their family to New Hampshire, and then later to Connecticut in 1981. He is survived by his dearest Barbara (Muendel) Knapp; daughters Veronica Knapp and Gayle Klim and her husband James; son Warren Knapp and his wife Terri. He will also be dearly missed by his grandchildren Stephanie Knapp, Ryan Knapp, Hannah Klim, Noah Klim, and step grandson Robert Coombs. Along with the lifetime of love shared with his family, Peter also enjoyed time with friends at the Madison Men's Club, Lion's Club, Westbrook Elks Club and Encore Men's Bridge and Golf, as well as sailing with fellow Madison Yacht Club members. An avid golfer, Peter also enjoyed his memberships at Hooper Golf Club in Walpole, NH, and Clinton Country Club in CT. But one of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren. Peter retired after 35 years with the Phone Company, working with computers in official accounts. A memorial service will take place on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St George Catholic Church in Guilford, CT.
