Randi J Young

April 27, 1978February 2, 2019

It is with incredible sadness and heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of our daughter Randi Jean Young. Randi passed away unexpectedly this past week at the age of 40 due to complications from diabetes. She leaves behind her mother Jean Saller, Stepfather Sven Saller, her Father Randy Young, her Stepmother Cindy Young, her half-sister Lisa, Grandma Johns, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Randi will be remembered for her dry wit, beautiful smile, love of the New England Patriots, especially Tom Brady and her typical but loveable strong-willed Taurus personality. She was a true friend to those who knew her, maintaining lifelong middle school friendships that are still going strong today.

Randi spent her teen years in Guilford Ct. attending Guilford High and SCSU. Most recently she was teaching as well as working in a medical office.

She had a love for animals especially her cat Serenity who has found a loving new caretaker, Jay her landlord.

Randi was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes about 10 years ago and coped with many medical challenges during this time. Despite it all she maintained a positive attitude and dealt with her circumstances with grace and courage.

Randi is preceded in death by Grandma and Grandpa Young, Verna and Rodney, Grandpa Johns, Mickey and her cousin Erika and Uncle Rick.

Our heartwarming memories of Randi will live on and our unwavering love will lift her to soar with the angels. We miss her dearly.

We love you to the moon and back Presh.

There will be a private memorial for Randi in Sylvania Ohio, where she was born.

Memorial donations in Randi’s honor to the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, 200 S. Park Road, Suite 100, Hollywood, FL 33021.

Thank you Randi for being my first best friend. Those years with you hold a special place in my heart and I will cherish the memories of us playing Barbies, making jokes, and riding our bikes around Trace Creek playing "airplanes". Sven and Jean I am so sorry for your loss. All of my love.

You were one of the funniest and most loyal people I ever knew. I could call you day or night. Your friendship will always hold a very special place in my heart. Thank you for being there through some great and some difficult times in my life; you always helped me remember to find humor in everything. Saying goodbye is so painful; I love you girl and wherever you are know that many people, more than you ever realized, love you & could never forget you.

I knew Randi as a young child in our neighborhood in The Woodlands, TX. Such a sweet child. She’d skip down the street! I mean, how awesome that she actually skipped!? Does anyone do that anymore? She was wise beyond her years with the wit of her mom Jean, my good friend who always had sweet stories about her, and stepdad Sven. I can’t fathom their grief. I wish for them that peace that passes all understanding, that guards their hearts. Love you both.

Randi was the definition of a true friend. We met in 7th grade and shared so many fun and memorable times together through high school. We passed notes in class, shared secrets about boys, laughed at movies together and despite our lives going in different directions as adults, got together each summer to catch up and visit. I'm going to miss you, Randi. Thank you for being such a good friend and always making me laugh. xoxoxo

My condolences to the family of Randy Young. I first met Randy at my 1st job when I was 16 at Edwards. She always had a smile and made me laugh. Our friendship grew and we spent time together usually causing mischief. I feel sad the friendship faded and regret not rekindling it. Randy you will always be remembered.

When she moved in with us, we got to know eachother better and she bacame like a sister I never had. I wish we would have talked and stayed in touch better once she moved back to CT. So sorry for the family. Randi and I became great friends before she got sick. She was funny, sassy, smart and an extremely loyal friend. We would talk about trying to get together but unfortunately couldn't ever make it happen. I will regret this forever. It really is true that tomorrow is never promised. Don't take anything for granted. I love you Randi. You will be sadly missed by all of your Toledo friends!
