

He was born on November 18, 1931, in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Andrew and Carmela (Ruoti) D'Alessio. He is preceded in death by his sister Marisa (D'Alessio) Valentine.
He was the widower of Patricia L. (Denver) D'Alessio, his wife of 39 years. Growing up in Pittsburgh, Ray graduated from Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University) with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and began a career in the steel industry which took him from Pittsburgh, PA to Muskegon, MI and eventually to Baltimore, MD where he met Patricia, married and started a family. Contraction in the US Steel industry forced relocations to Easton, MD then to Englishtown, NJ and in 1976 a final relocation to Madison, CT where he designed, built and managed the operations of a small steel mill, Yale Steel, in Wallingford. In the later years of his career he was a machinery and inventory appraiser for Citi Bank. After retiring from Citi Bank, Ray continued to be active in the community, volunteering at Community Dining Room and was very active as a board member at St. Lawrence Church.
Mr. D'Alessio is survived by his children, Kim Blackwell (husband, Neal) of Pennington, NJ, Keith D'Alessio (wife, Jennifer) of Cary, NC, David D'Alessio (wife, Diane) of Madison, and Gina D'Alessio (Tony Grasso), of Durham; grandchildren Zachary, Bradford, Patrick, Andy, and Hailey.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday February 13th from 9:30-11am in St. Lawrence Church, 7 Hemlock Dr., Killingworth. Lastly, the family would like to express their most sincere thanks to the many healthcare personnel that took care of Mr. D'Alessio in the last year of his life. Their efforts to make Mr. D'Alessio's life more comfortable and enriched are most certainly appreciated.
