His family is deeply grieved to announce the sudden passing on 26 March of Richard L. Bailey of Madison. He graced our lives for 87 years. Dick was born on 12 July 1925 in New Britain to Charles and Anna Becker Bailey. He graduated from New Britain High School in 1943, and then proudly served in the Air Force during World War II. Dick worked for SNETCo for 40 years, retiring in 1987. He was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and son who always provided the highest level of care, guidance, and example to his family. Dick was also a consummate outdoorsman. In addition to his deeply beloved wife of 59 years, Constance Monkiewicz Bailey, Dick leaves behind his daughter Margaret, her husband James, and their children, Andrew and Heather Vernon. A memorial service and celebration of Dick’s life will be held on Friday 5 April at 11AM at the Lutheran Church of Madison. Interment will occur at a later date.
