

Richard Thomas Gorecki, lovingly known as “Ricky from Chicago”, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026, at the age of 76, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 23, 1950, in Schenectady, New York, he was the son of the late Harold and Maria Gorecki (Encinas). He was a longtime resident of Madison, Connecticut.
Rick practiced Podiatry in Madison for over 40 years, building his own practice. He also spent many years working at the VA Hospital, where he took great pride in caring for veterans. In addition to his medical career, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy Reserves for 30 years, retiring with the rank of Commander.
He cherished his summers spent in the Adirondacks on Great Sacandaga Lake, where he built lasting memories with his beloved “camp family”. He loved to have fun and was known for telling great stories that brought laughter to those around him. He had a special love for his golden retrievers and his cat, Lewie.
His is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara Gorecki (Sleeter) of Madison, Connecticut; his children, Jason Gorecki, Erin Wright and her husband Edwin Wright, and Kristen Gorecki and her partner Todd Sakowski. He was a proud grandfather to Hannah and Cole Wright, and Jenna and Evan Massey. He is also survived by his brother Gerry Gorecki and sister-in-law Jill, along with many nieces and nephews.
Rick will be remembered for his love of family, his stories, and the many good times he shared with everyone who knew him.
