To know Steve was to know a man of faith, bursting with energy and life.
In his earlier years he proudly committed himself to the Boy Scout’s Oath and reminded us often of it. “On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my Country and obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight. To always be prepared." And he was.
He grew up in Madison where he found his love of the shoreline. His family pioneered the first sailing school at Hammonasset Beach.
Steven graduated from Daniel Hand High School in 1972. He attended Southern Connecticut State University and graduated from the Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, NY in 1987 with the Degree of Associate in Occupational Studies, Culinary Arts.
Steve was the star player on both the soccer field and the baseball diamond. He was incredibly fast and agile on the field, and had a deep love of the game.
He found his true calling in cooking. He loved how creating perfectly cooked food could bring people so much joy. He worked the line in several restaurants. He believed that food was his way to connect with people and share happiness.
More than anything he was an outdoorsman, fishing, surfing, hiking, boating and golfing until sundown (and even after). He was an avid reader, sports fan and patriot.
His love for his wife and daughter was his whole world. He always knew how to make them laugh. They filled their lives with scenic drives along the shoreline, frequenting the antique shops and exploring the charming towns. Time at home was spent outside with the birds and nature surrounding them.
He leaves behind a life filled to the fullest in his own way - a life that was never rushed.
