October 6, 1942 - March 20, 2020
William Cary DeLoach, Jr. passed away on March 20th, 2020. Cary was a fighter, a two time
cancer survivor, beating the odds of esophageal cancer in 2001. He continued to live a full, rich
life, blessing those around him with his warmth, intelligence, sense of humor, and friendly
nature. Cary was an avid music lover. He had a beautiful voice and it was a joy to hear him sing
in the church choir. As a devout Roman Catholic, he attended church on Sundays and shared
his compassion for others by dedicating time volunteering at many charities. He loved staying
active, taking long walks while making friends along the way, and meticulously caring for his
garden and lawn. He enjoyed his daily ritual of afternoon Starbucks coffee where he attracted
new friends who shared his passion for politics. He spent summers in Connecticut near his
daughter and grandchildren, but resided in Florida, enjoying the sunny weather and beautiful
sunsets with his wife by his side.
Cary was born October 6, 1942 in Mobile, Alabama, devoted son of the late Fanny Mae Kyle
and William Cary DeLoach, Sr., and loving brother of Kyle DeLoach. He graduated from
Birmingham Southern College and had a successful career in the insurance industry, including
25 loyal years at Travelers Insurance Company. Cary leaves behind his beloved wife of over 48
years, Rosemary (Elliott) DeLoach; his four devoted children, Kristin, Cary, Elliott, and Mary
Kathryn; and six grandchildren, Brendan, Elizabeth, Francesca, Cary, Elliott, and Rose who
fondly knew him as “Poppy.” He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. We will
miss him dearly and celebrate his life well lived.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Cary’s memory to the St. Vincent de
Paul Society in Naples Florida, a cause dear to Cary’s heart.
