First met Bernie in 2005 in Nashville at a Hof Reunion. I was in Hof about 2 years before Bernie. In Nashville I also discovered that we were both retired from the Detroit PD although we had never met.

I'm sorry I didn't know him better. We had a great time in Nashville. In the very short time that I knew him I found that he was very pleasant to be around. My condolences to the Pieper family.



We are so very sorry for your loss.  Bernie will be remembered fondly by us.  We had many good times at the Hof Reunions through the years.

It is with deep sadness that we learned of the passing of our fellow "HOFER". We have many great memories of when we were stationed in Hof , Germany in the 60's and then Bernie coming to our home 40 years later for a memorable Beerfest with many of the Cops that were also stationed there. REST IN PEACE my FRIEND we WILL have a BEER again someday.

I fondly remember Bernie picking me up to come babysit and Sandy and Bernie playing cards with my parents.
