My deepest condolences to the Karas family. John was a very kind man and I enjoyed getting to know him at the Macomb Center. May his memory always be a blessing to his family.

We had uncle Johnny! We had uncle john,
We had Donnie (nick mane for John) we had Johnny and then we had “little Johnnie”.. all these johns but little Johnnie was my age so we grew up together.
I can honestly say he noticed me wearing nail polish and thought it was cool. I always said “I only have one boy cousin and one girl cousin I have to say goodbye to my only boy cousin today,
Hope you made it to the highest Mountain. RIP

Gosh, I'm at a loss for words. I met John while teaching Body Works & Abs at Warren LA Fitness; he was one in few men that attended my class. John was such a nice guy, always attended class unless on vacation or in the thick of doing lawn work. We often chatted before or after class; and he would give me a pat on the back or thumbs up when class was exceptionally good. I stopped teaching Body Works in December of 2016 and on my last day, John gave me the biggest hug and said "I will miss your classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays - don't forget us, please come back and visit soon." But, sadly, I didn't get a chance to see him again. When I heard the news (from a former student) I literally could not wrap my head around it. Not John, he was truly a nice guy and left his mark on everyone at LA Fitness. I am thankful to have known him and that God saw fit for our paths to cross. My sincerest condolences to John's family he will surely be missed.

I have so many fond memories of John. We met at Tacom back in the late 70s and became friends right away. We put together a mixed league softball team. John was our anchor. It was funny! The men had a bat opposite-handed. John loved it because he hit best batting left-handed. Virtually every time at the plate he would hit one out of the park!
His quick wit was only surpassed by his friendliness and zest for life. He was always there if help was needed. I will miss him.

We are shocked and saddened to hear that John has passed. Sue, please know that you have our deepest sympathy. There are many fond "cousin memories" from childhood. My Dad was quite fond of his youngest sister's son. May he rest in peace.

Sue, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. My prayers are with you & your family. John was taken much too young and full of life. I am shocked and deeply saddened by his passing.
I will always remember some of the challenging & fun times we shared at work. Like when I would call a meeting with John, Andi and Dave. He would often walk into my office wearing sunglasses. He said it was to shield himself from the glare/stare he was expecting from me on a particular subject (the other two never needed “the stare”!). We’d break out laughing and I would address the topic with humor & all would be resolved!
RIP John
