John "Jack" Scott, age 88, passed away on Sunday June 6, 2021. Jack was born April 23, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan. Devoted and loving husband of Margene Ann Scott. Dear father of Linda (Steven) Hanneman, Michael (Eveline) Scott, Mark (Kathleen) Scott, Kristen (James) Gregory, Kraig (the late Jill) Johnston. Loving grandfather of Christopher, Chelsea, Kurtis, Dylan, Lucas, Cory, Clayton, Matthew, Katherine, the late Ian. Brother of Joanne Basford.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday June 8, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday June 9, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. A prayer service for Jack will be held on Wednesday June 9, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Edward Swanson & Son Funeral Home 30351 Dequindre Road Madison Heights, Michigan 48071.
Interment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery Holly, Michigan.
Jack retired from General Motors after a long career as a Functional Name Analyst, and was also an avid RV Camper. Jack enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in numerous extra-curricular activities.
Jack was a veteran of the Army, he was also a long time member of Society of Automotive Engineers, and the Madison Heights Historical Museum, which is to be named in honor of Jack & Margene at a later date.
Jack was a volunteer with the S.H.A.R.P. program that serviced senior citizens. Jack was also named Volunteer of The Year for the Historical Museum, City of Madison Heights. Jack was a volunteer with the Cub Scouts at Lessenger School, Madison Heights.
