Dear Mother

Born the second child of seven 
A precious gift sent from Heaven.
You were raised by a loving father and mother
To grow and blossom, like no other.
You found love and became a wife
Ventured out to start a new life.
You became a mother of three
Two daughters and a son, you see.
You gave us joy we had to share
Dressed us in clothes we were proud to wear.
You worked hard, sometimes in pain
Because you loved us, you didn't complain.
You wept when you were left alone
Yet held strong as a granite stone.
You saw the years fly by and we grew old
Stayed true to heart, as we were told.
You showed love and kindness to all
Even through difficult times, we recall.
You left us a legacy to cherish and share
One we must continue and take care.
You must now go and leave us alone
As you join Almighty God on His throne.
You are again, the second of seven
Only now to wait and guide us in Heaven.
The tears and hurt we cannot hide
The joy we'll feel to see you on the other side.

My Aunt Maria was the spiciest, sassy ( in a good way ) sister  of them all in the Fleischer family. It's been 6 plus years since we've seen her but as I remember, her funny sarcasm and German undertones were as sharp as ever. She whipped up a dessert so simple in front of us( or for her it was so simple) that it made everyone reminisce of yester years. She used no measuring cups or spoons to create her dessert, it was simply easy peazy lemon squeezy.My Aunt Maria was a treasure of a women. One of the biggest treasures she's leaving behind is her recipe book. If her recipe book could tell a story, it would tell the stories of all the people she's enlightened with creations. But also the disappointed people who didn't bring there own tupperware to take some home LOL. We love you Aunt Maria and I hope you bequeathed your recipe book for all of us to see and share.
