Beloved husband of the late Catherine. Dear father of Dr. Carolyn (Jeffrey) Strassman, Brian Berner, Douglas (Deanna) Berner, Jennifer (Denis Eberhardt) Berner, Rachel (Joseph) Gluck. Loving grandfather of Catherine, Chloe, Jason (Samantha), Matthew, Michael and Christopher. Marvin was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters.
Marvin was a World War II Naval Veteran. He was an avid gardener. He had a garden at the Detroit Zoo for over 20 years. His family shared his love for the garden and many memories were made volunteering there. The garden is now named after him. Marvin cherished his family time above all else and was making others laugh until his final days.
The Berners will receive guests on Thursday November 11, 2021 for 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Edward Swanson & Son Funeral Home 30351 Dequindre Road Madison Heights, Michigan 48071.
Marvin's funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday November 12, 2021at 10:00 a.m. (In State at 9:30 a.m.) at St. Vincent Ferrer Church 28353 Herbert Street Madison Heights, Michigan 48071. Fr. John Esper will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes can be made to Detroit Zoo.org/give, or if you wish to purchase flowers the family has asked that you contact Morning Glory Florist at 586-573-2446.
